Roofs in Pekan: What to Know

In Pekan, timber kampung houses and modern homes stand side by side, but both face the same sea wind and monsoon rain. Rusted zinc, rotten trusses and shifted tiles are usually behind it when a ceiling starts to get wet. Take a few photos of the roof and the affected ceiling, then send them on WhatsApp for an initial estimate.

Pekan is Pahang's royal town, close to the mouth of the Pahang River and the east coast. It gets the north-east monsoon from roughly November to January, with salty sea air that speeds up rust. Many traditional timber kampung houses here have zinc or tile roofs on timber trusses.
